Concert for Comunidad de Luz Turns Music Into Shelter, Safety and Hope for Women and Children
For women and children fleeing violence, poverty and uncertainty, a safe bed can mean the difference between fear and hope. A warm meal can restore dignity. Compassionate care can open the door to a new beginning.
On Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, the San Diego community will come together once again for the Concert for Comunidad de Luz, an inspiring afternoon where the power of music becomes a lifeline for vulnerable families seeking safety and stability.
Featuring Maestro Diego Guerra and the San Diego Philharmonic, and presented in partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego and St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, the concert will directly benefit Comunidad de Luz.

Located in Tijuana, Comunidad de Luz provides refuge and compassionate support to migrant women and children who have endured extraordinary hardship. The shelter offers housing, meals, counseling, education and a nurturing environment where women and their children can begin to heal and rebuild their lives.
The 2026 concert builds on the extraordinary momentum of the inaugural 2025 event, which drew more than 250 supporters and raised critical funds to sustain the shelter’s life-changing work. The evening demonstrated what is possible when a community comes together in solidarity and compassion.

“This concert is about far more than music,” said Robert Vivar, Episcopal Diocese of San Diego Migration Missioner. “Every ticket purchased and every gift made helps provide safety, dignity and hope for women and children who are searching for a chance to begin again.”
“Music has the ability to move us deeply,” said Diego Guerra. “When that inspiration is paired with action, it can help transform lives.”
Community leaders, philanthropists, faith communities and music lovers from throughout the region are invited to attend and be part of an afternoon that offers both artistic excellence and meaningful impact.
