See smoke? Firefighters are conducting three planned burns near Pine Valley, Mount Laguna and Palomar Mountain.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – Firefighters are conducting three controlled burns this week in San Diego County.
Cal Fire firefighters are conducting a controlled burn near Pine Valley. The planned 100-acre burn is expected to take several days to complete, according to Cal Fire. The blaze was ignited mid-morning on the Corte Madera Ranch south of Interstate 8.
The controlled burn is the first this year under Cal Fire's Vegetation Management Program, which uses prescribed fires to eliminate brush that could become hazardous fuel for wildfires. The burn will produce visible smoke throughout the county, Cal Fire spokesman Issac Sanchez said.
