Controlled Burns Scheduled At MCAS Miramar

SAN DIEGO – MCAS Miramar and San Diego firefighters will be conducting controlled burns Thursday in the eastern reaches of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, according to military officials.

The prescribed burns are scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. in an effort to mitigate the risks of wildfires on and around the base.

On Friday, additional controlled burns are slated on the airfield of the northern San Diego Marine Corps installation.

Flames and smoke may be visible in surrounding areas during the training operations, but no public visibility restrictions are expected, base officials advised.
