Cool Zone Sites Open Amid San Diego County Heat Wave
Cool Zone sites include the county's 33 branch libraries, community centers and other locations across the San Diego region.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A prolonged heat wave will take over San Diego County this week and weekend. The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for the county's deserts, mountains and valleys.
Residents can beat the heat through the county's Cool Zones program.
The county created the program two decades ago to provide free and safe air-conditioned spaces for older adults, people with disabilities and others with health concerns that could be complicated by the effects of extreme heat.
