SAN DIEGO, CA – Comic-Con is back, which means it really is Superman – not a bird or a plane – on the streets of San Diego.

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Spider-Man and plenty of other comic book, television and movie characters crowded downtown streets and crammed San Diego Convention Center for the first day of San Diego Comic-Con Thursday. There were a variety of costumed characters, from superheroes to villains, such as Captain America and Bane, as pictured here.
