Cox Charities awards $100,000 in grants to San Diego nonprofits
Ten San Diego County nonprofits will each receive a $10,000 grant from the philanthropic arm of Cox Communications
Cox Charities will award a total of $100,000 in grants to ten San Diego nonprofit organizations to support initiatives that focus on youth, education, conservation, and the military. A philanthropic arm of Cox Communications that is funded by employee donations with a company match, Cox Charities is celebrating 20 years of giving in California in 2019.
“Our employees love to give back to the community and supporting nonprofits that serve our communities is one way they can do that,” said Sam Attisha, senior vice president and region manager for Cox in California. “This year of giving is significant to our employees as it marks 20 years that they have been giving back through Cox Charities.”
A diverse volunteer board of employees from Cox Communications, Cox Business, and Cox Media oversee Cox Charities and its giving programs, which include nonprofit grants, awarding scholarships to high school seniors, and supporting programs and organizations focused on Cox Charities’ giving pillars. To date, Cox Charities has contributed more than $7 million to local communities, including Santa Barbara, Palos Verdes, Orange County and San Diego.
