The new ice cream shop is set to open in mid-May and is hiring.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Creamistry, the shop that specializes in made-to-order, liquid-nitrogen ice cream, will open its first downtown San Diego location in mid-May in Ballpark Village near Petco Park.

The owners – a group of business partners and friends –launched the franchise after having experienced Creamistry from a customer's perspective.

“Ice cream has always been one of my favorite desserts,” said Raymond, one of the owners. “Creamistry has an incredible product, and we were regular customers before deciding to open one of our own. It’s the ultimate indulgence, and we are all thrilled to bring Creamistry to San Diego.”

At Creamistry, customers choose an ice cream base (premium, organic, vegan coconut, vegan cashew or non-dairy sorbet), a flavor option and then the toppings from a list of 30-plus options that include candy, cookies and cereal, fruits and sauces.

The ice cream then is crafted -- complete with billowing smoke thanks to the flash-freezing process. When the liquid nitrogen (-321° F) hits the base it freezes so fast that ice crystals do not have a chance to develop, "resulting in a decadently rich and luxuriously creamy ice cream with virtually no overrun," according to the Irvine-based company, which now has about 60 locations in six states.
