Cricket Wireless Launches New CSR Platform Cricket Cares

Prepaid wireless service provider, Cricket Wireless announced today the launch of a new corporate social responsibility platform. The program, called Cricket Cares is set to boost the company's commitment to bettering local communities.

“Philanthropy is part of Cricket’s cultural DNA. We work with national and regional charities to make a significant impact where it matters most – in the community,” said Dawn Benton, assistant vice president, corporate communications, Cricket Wireless. “Whether donating cell phones and wireless service or helping a worthy citizen renovate their home, Cricket prioritizes giving back.”

To kick off Cricket Cares, Cricket is working with Rebuilding Together, an organization that improves the homes and lives of low-income homeowners here in San Diego. The joint program, “Connecting Communities,” is an effort to revitalize communities across the country. Starting in 5 cities – Baltimore, Detroit, Miami, Minneapolis and Seattle – Cricket will contribute $25,000 in each market that will go towards community revitalization projects, funding a total of 15 projects in all.

Rebuilding Together invests in communities by improving the lives of residents in need, increasing the safety and health of their homes, building economic development opportunities and working with local leaders to revitalize underserved neighborhoods. Cricket and Rebuilding Together will officially launch Connected Communities in the coming weeks.
