Dangerous Heat Forecast For Parts Of San Diego County

Scorching heat with highs of 112 to 117 degrees are forecast in the desert areas, according to the National Weather Service.

SAN DIEGO, CA — An excessive heat warning is in effect for parts of San Diego County where dangerously hot conditions are expected.

The excessive heat warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Thursday to 8 p.m. Sunday in the county desert areas. Scorching heat with highs of 112 to 117 degrees are forecast in the desert areas, according to the National Weather Service.

Extreme heat can increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities, according to the NWS.

Weather officials recommend people drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should not be left unattended in vehicles.

"Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke," the NWS said. "Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911."
