DESCANSO, CA — A structure fire in the eastern San Diego County highlands spread into adjacent brush Wednesday, blackening about two acres southwest of Lake Cuyamaca before ground and airborne crews were able to subdue the flames.

The blaze in the 24000 block of Sherilton Valley Road in Descanso erupted for unknown reasons shortly before 3:30 p.m., according to Cal Fire.

It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze, which originated in a building described as modular, or prefabricated, said Issac Sanchez, a fire captain with the state agency. It was unclear if the structure was a house or some other type of construction, he said.
