Disney On Ice Brings 'Encanto,' 'Frozen' Stories To San Diego

The all-new show will feature the stories and songs from the Disney films, along with ice skating and aerial acrobatics.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Disney On Ice is back in San Diego with an all-new show, featuring the stories of "Frozen" and "Encanto."

The show, slated Thursday through Sunday at Pechanga Arena, will feature the stories and songs from the Disney films, along with ice skating and aerial acrobatics.

"San Diego must come see this spectacular, beautiful show," Disney On Ice ensemble skater Allison Kymmell told Patch.

"We have never brought this show to the area, so audiences will see something they never have before," she added. "Between the world-class skating, colorful lights, costumes, special effects — you will be sitting at the edge of your seat singing a lot and just waiting for what happens next in the show."

Disney On Ice Presents Frozen and Encanto transports fans into the two films and features the popular characters Anna, Elsa, Mirabel and the Madrigal family, as well as fan favorites Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy and more.

Kymmell has been with the show since it opened in 2022. She first toured with Disney On Ice for the final season of Disney On Ice: Passport to Adventure in 2018.

"This must be my favorite show so far," she said. "Both encompass stories of family and love, and that is very near and dear to my heart."

Kymmell, who grew up in Virginia Beach, started skating when she was 6 years old after her "Oma" died and left her money for ice-skating lessons.

"When I had my first ice-skating lesson, I instantly fell in love with skating and had a deep connection with the ice," she said. "I competed the same year."

As a professional ice skater, Kymmell has skated professionally with multiple companies, including several circuses around the world. She is a three-time U.S. Figure Skating gold medalist. She also earned third place for the U.S. in the World Inline Figure Skating Association's World Open in 2021.

But there's something truly magical about bringing the magic of Disney to the ice, Kymmell said.

"It is truly breathtaking and magical to transform the arena into a vibrant stage that transports families into the stories of 'Frozen' and 'Encanto,'" she said.

Shows for Disney On Ice Presents Frozen and Encanto are scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, as well as 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Pechanga Arena at 3500 Sports Arena Blvd. in San Diego.

Tickets can be purchased online at AXS.com or in-person at the venue box office. Fans who want to meet Elsa and Mirabel can purchase a pre-show character experience that includes games, storytelling, crafting and photo opportunities.
