LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Dodgers will recognized a service member from Fallbrook at Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Dodger Stadium.
The Military Hero of the Game will be retired U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Jerry Green of Fallbrook. Green conducted maritime search and rescue, law enforcement and counter-narcotic operations across the world, including rescuing several commercial fishing boats off the coasts of Maine and Canada.
Green was selected as an initial maritime member of a multi-agency task force to counter terrorism threats to U.S. ports after the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988 that killed all 243 passengers and 16 crew members, with the plane crashing in Lockerbie, Scotland, killing 11 more people on the ground.
