Driver Killed After Hitting Parked Car In Ramona

The man was extracted from the vehicle and airlifted to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

RAMONA, CA — A man was killed after crashing his truck into a parked car Tuesday in eastern San Diego County.

The crash happened at about 8:50 p.m. when the 33-year-old driver was heading west on B Street in Ramona, according to the California Highway Patrol. For unknown reasons, the 1990 Mazda B2600i pickup truck he was driving went to the right and hit a parked, unoccupied 2003 Mercedes E320 sedan.

First responders found the driver unconscious and unresponsive inside the truck, CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said. The man was extracted from the vehicle and airlifted to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

It was unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, Grieshaber said. The crash remained under investigation.
