Driver Killed In Head-On Crash In Vista

VISTA, CA — A motorist was killed Thursday in a head-on collision in Vista.

The fatal wreck occurred shortly before 7 a.m., when a Chevrolet traveling to the north in the 400 block of North Melrose Drive drifted to the left directly in the path of an oncoming Toyota, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.

The resulting crash left the driver of the Chevrolet dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.

The other motorist was unhurt, sheriff's Sgt. Eric Cottrell said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
