Driver Severely Injured After Crashing Stolen SUV During Police Pursuit In San Diego
The driver lost control and struck a curb and telephone pole before continuing north and hitting a parked car, police said.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A 24-year-old man was seriously injured after crashing a stolen SUV while evading police in San Diego's Midway neighborhood, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported at 1:50 p.m. Sunday at 2000 San Diego Ave. Officers were pursuing the stolen 2026 Lexus TX500h northbound in the left lane, according to the San Diego Police Department. The driver lost control and struck a curb and telephone pole before continuing north and hitting a parked car.
The collision pushed the parked vehicle into another vehicle, setting off a chain reaction involving three additional parked vehicles, police said. All of the parked vehicles were unoccupied.

The driver, whose name was not released, suffered a fractured right ankle and a fractured T-11 vertebra in his spine. Police said alcohol or drugs were not a factor.
The department's Traffic Division was investigating the crash.
