Driver Shot At 5 Times During Argument In San Diego: Police

The victim, 23, was struck in the left leg, hand and nose, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — The driver of a BMW was shot at five times by a suspect in another car amid an argument Monday in San Diego, authorities said.

The shooting happened at 6:23 p.m. in the 4000 block of Messina Drive in the Mountain View neighborhood, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The victim and his friend were sitting in a black BMW when a red sedan "pulled up next to the victim and words were exchanged," San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.

"During the argument someone from the red vehicle shot five times at the victim in his BMW," Buttle said.

The victim, 23, was struck in the left leg, hand and nose, Buttle said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting remains under investigation.
