SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities sought the public's help Wednesday in identifying a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in Pacific Beach.

A westbound SUV hit Laqwente Bryant, 41, of San Diego shortly before 2:10 a.m. Saturday as he was crossing the street mid-block at 1400 Garnet Avenue, according to San Diego County Crime Stoppers.

The vehicle fled eastbound on Garnet Avenue, police said. The suspect was last seen driving north on 4500 Gresham Street.

Paramedics took Bryant to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
