DUI Suspected In College Area Crash Into Telephone Pole
A man suspected of driving while intoxicated was detained after his vehicle hit a street sign and telephone pole, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man suspected of driving while intoxicated was detained Thursday after his vehicle hit a street sign and telephone pole in the College Area, police said.
The crash happened at 4:14 a.m. Thursday on Campanile Drive, according to Officer David O'Brien of the San Diego Police Department.
The man said he lost control of a Subaru and crashed into the sign and pole but was not injured.

The sign was found in a yard and the pole was leaning into the street but power in the neighborhood was still on.
A small fire started at the top of the pole but was soon extinguished by firefighters.

The driver was detained and taken to a police station for further testing.
