Earthquake Shakes Near Lake Henshaw In San Diego County

The small quake was reported late Thursday night. Did you feel it?

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A mild earthquake rattled parts of San Diego County late Thursday night.

The magnitude-2.8 earthquake was reported at 10:59 p.m. about a mile west-southwest of Lake Henshaw, a reservoir at the southeast base of Palomar Mountain, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 3.1, was later downgraded. It had a depth of more than 6 miles, according to the USGS.

Residents reported feeling the quake across the county, including in Escondido, Fallbrook, La Mesa, Lakeside, Poway, Ramona, San Diego, San Marcos and Spring Valley, according to the USGS's "Did You Feel It?" map.
