Elmo's Furry Fun Fest Kicks Off At Sesame Place San Diego

CHULA VISTA, CA — Although water attractions are closed for the season, the fun hasn't stopped at Sesame Place San Diego.

In fact, the Chula Vista-based theme park and water park is kicking off 11 weekends of family fun during the all-new Elmo's Furry Fun Fest.

Every Saturday and Sunday, a different Sesame Street character will host park visitors to a weekend based on their characteristics and favorite things. Activities will include dance parties, storytimes, photo opportunities and more.

Elmo's Furry Fun Fest will run on weekends from Saturday, Jan. 13 through Sunday, March 17. Here's the schedule for the family-friendly event:

• Jan. 13-14: Captain Cookie's Pirate Weekend: Come in your pirate garb and join in the fun with Captain Cookie Monster! The park will transform into a pirate's haven with a storytime, treasure treats and more.
• Jan. 20-21: Abby's Magic Weekend: Join Abby Cadabby for a magical weekend featuring a new magic show, strolling magicians and more.
• Jan. 27-28: Ernie's Birthday Bash Weekend: Wear party hats and celebrate Ernie! Take part in a golden duck hunt and make birthday cards for Ernie's special day.
• Feb. 3-4: Elmo's Rockin' Birthday Weekend: Get ready to rock when Elmo throws a birthday party! Celebrate with a birthday scavenger hunt, chalk art and a rockin' storytime with Elmo.
• Feb. 10-11: My Fuzzy Valentine Weekend: Make Valentine's Day cards, enjoy festive treats and more.
• Feb. 17-18: Super Grover's Everyday Heroes Weekend: Celebrate the everyday heroes in the community. Meet real-life local heroes including police officers and firefighters, enjoy a storytime with Super Grover and dance along at a dance party.
• Feb. 24-25: Tango's Fur-ever Friends Weekend: Join Tango and all her Sesame Street pals to celebrate pets everywhere. There will be a pet adoption event, Tango's Treat Seek scavenger hunt and a dance party.
• March 2-3: Oscar's Trash-tastic Weekend: Dive into a trash-tastic weekend hosted by Oscar. The event's all-new trash-themed games, storytime and recycling activity will turn any frown upside down.
• March 9-10: Big Bird Pajama Party Weekend: Grab some cozy jammies for the ultimate pajama party featuring a dance party, storytime with Big Bird and more.
• March 16-17: Saint Patrick's Day Celebration and Furry Fest Finale Weekend Bash: Wear your favorite green outfit and celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the park with a St. Patrick's Day scavenger hunt, storytime and festive snacks.

Season pass members will receive a free sticker collection book. Each page is dedicated to a specific Elmo's Furry Fun Fest weekend theme. Every weekend offers an exclusive sticker for kids to place on the corresponding page.

Theme park-goers who visit four times from Jan. 13 through March 10 will earn an invitation to an exclusive party with the park president, where a variety of surprises await, including a limited-edition Elmo's Furry Fun Fest Collector's Pin. The event will feature a meet and greet with park president Jim Lake, up-close view of a Sesame Street parade float, treats and more.
