SAN DIEGO, CA — An excessive heat warning was issued Thursday for parts of San Diego County.

The warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. Thursday until 8 p.m. Friday in the county deserts, including the community of Borrego Springs, according to the National Weather Service. Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 118 are expected in the desert areas.

Weather officials warned that extreme heat can significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
