Fire Disrupts San Diego Freeway Traffic On I-805

Flames and smoke from a brush fire near the 805 Freeway in San Diego brought traffic to a standstill Tuesday.

OTAY MESA, CA — Freeway traffic was disrupted Tuesday after a fire broke out on the side of the northbound I-805, California Highway Patrol officers announced.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m., a brush fire ignited for reasons still under investigation, along side of the freeway. Smoke and flames billowed from the incident that burned roughly two acres.

Nearby highway on and offramps were closed during the incident.

Firefighters worked to douse the fire as CHP closed the freeway, rerouting traffic temporarily.

All lanes were reopened by 1 p.m.
