Fire Rips Through Sorrento Valley Warehouse

Firefighters extinguished a blaze Wednesday morning that tore through a Sorrento Valley warehouse, authorities said.

SAN DIEGO — Firefighters extinguished a blaze Wednesday morning that tore through a Sorrento Valley warehouse, authorities said.

The non-injury fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. at the warehouse at 6980 Corte Santa Fe, off Camino Santa Fe and Miramar Road, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Dave Pilkerton.

A caller told dispatchers he could seeing white smoke coming from the roof of the building, Pilkerton said.

The source of the fire was a storage unit in the back of the building filled with densely stacked piles of paper goods, NBC7 reported.

Crews requested more engines around 3:40 a.m. to help douse the flames and firefighters had the blaze under control by 4:55 a.m., Pilkerton said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
