Gas Price Records Largest Increase Since January In San Diego

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — The average price of a gallon of self-serve gasoline in San Diego County recorded its largest daily increase since Jan. 9 Wednesday after dropping 58 of the previous 61 days to its lowest amount since Dec. 29, 2016.

The average price rose seven-tenths of a cent to $2.78, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It had decreased 76 cents over the previous 61 days, including three-tenths of a cent on Tuesday.

Despite the increase, the average price is 1.2 cents less than a week ago, 22.7 cents lower than a month ago and $1.32 below what it was one year ago. It has fallen 82.2 cents since the start of the year.

The average price fell 44 consecutive days, rose three-tenths of a cent on April 19, dropped each of the next five days, then rose three-tenths of a cent on April 25 and one-tenth of a cent on April 26, the first back-to-back daily increases since Feb. 27-28. It had also dropped each of the previous nine days.
