Happy Saturday, neighbors! Let's see what's happening today.
Here are the top stories in San Diego today:
- They said it would happen. Now it has. Gas prices have risen to over $5 a gallon. When will it end? - They are referred to as algae blooms, red tides, or electric-blue waves, and the bioluminescent tides are back at San Diego County beaches. Visitors have been snapping photos of the radiant tide and posting them online. A pod of dolphins swam through the glowing waves this past week, delighting onlookers. Red tides are unpredictable, and it is not known how long they will stay around. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (NBC San Diego)
- Ocean Beach resident Philip James Weisbecker pleaded guilty to his role in the Capitol Siege of Jan. 6. He will be sentenced in June for entering the Capitol building and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office. The offense is a misdemeanor. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. The women of Californio families combined Native, Spanish, and American lifestyles to make this period of our region's history one of our most diverse and culturally significant, and the Californio women of San Diego are part of a hidden history."
