Shelter-In-Place Order Lifted At Naval Base San Diego
The base has cleared the shelter-in-place order and returned to normal operations.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A shelter-in-place order was lifted Tuesday at Naval Base San Diego.
Personnel aboard a portion of the base were told to shelter in place due to a potentially "hazardous situation."
Military officials announced the order shortly after 10 a.m. on the naval base's Facebook page. The shelter-in-place order was issued for Wetside Zone A from Gates 2 through 7 and Piers 1 through 5. The order did not apply to the Dryside portion of the base.

"All personnel onboard the installation are directed to seek shelter in the nearest building and activate shelter-in-place plans," officials said. "Remain indoors until further instructions are received."
Officials later said the order was prompted by the discovery of a potentially suspicious object. The object found on the west side of the base turned out to be harmless, a Navy spokesperson said.
