Helen Woodward Animal Center To Host Sixth Remember Me Thursday
The candle-lighting event, which will take place in Balboa Park, aims to spread awareness for homeless and adoptable pets.

SAN DIEGO, CA – The Helen Woodward Animal Center will host a candle-lighting event Thursday in Balboa Park to spread awareness for homeless and adoptable pets.
Since the launch of the Remember Me Thursday campaign in 2013, more than 700 separate animal welfare organizations have supported the Helen Woodward Animal Center's efforts to spread awareness about the need for orphan pets to find forever homes. Celebrities such as Diane Keaton and Katherine Heigl have supported the campaign on social media as well.
"Millions of beautiful, adoptable pets will lose their lives in 2018," said Mike Arms, president and CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center. "We all come from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, but together, we can raise our voices and share one life-saving message and literally save millions of pets on this one day."

Representatives from the offices of U.S. Reps. Scott Peters and Juan Vargas are expected to attend. The Helen Woodward Animal Center partnered with Blue Buffalo pet food, the Petco Foundation, Embrace Pet Insurance, Naturally Fresh and SeaWorld to put on the event.
