Homeless Man Attacked At San Diego Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA -- A 51-year-old homeless man was stabbed Saturday morning during an argument in Mission Beach. The stabbing was reported at 1:45 a.m. in the 800 block of San Fernando Place, said San Diego police Sgt. Michael Tansey.

The victim was sleeping in his vehicle when he was awakened by an acquaintance who was knocking on his window. The victim opened the door of the vehicle to speak to the man and the discussion became an argument, Tansey said.

The suspect used an unknown sharp object and slashed the victim, who sustained an approximate 3-inch laceration to his right hand, Tansey said. The suspect then fled on foot heading into a nearby park.

The victim was taken to an area hospital by paramedics for his non- life threatening injury, Tansey said. The suspect is described as a white transient male in his 40s with a stocky build and was wearing a red shirt, according to Tansey.
