IKEA Sets Opening Date For South Bay Location
IKEA has operated in the San Diego market since opening its Mission Valley store in 2000.

SAN DIEGO, CA —IKEA will open its new South Bay plan-and-order point with pick-up location on July 22, expanding the furniture retailer's footprint in San Diego County.
The new store, located in the Southland Plaza Shopping Center, will celebrate its grand opening at 10:30 a.m. with tours, giveaways and food samples.
The approximately 2,450-square-foot location is designed as a planning studio where customers can meet with IKEA specialists to design spaces such as kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms and place orders. While shoppers will not be able to take merchandise home the same day, they can schedule delivery or pick up purchases at the onsite pick-up location. Online customers can also choose the South Bay store as a pick-up site during checkout.

The South Bay location joins IKEA's longtime Mission Valley store and is part of the company's strategy to expand through smaller-format stores that offer planning services and more convenient order pickup.
