Inmate Who Died At Tri-City In Oceanside Succumbed To Natural Causes

Zeke Davis, 43, had been arrested on suspicion of violating a temporary restraining order, resisting arrest and battering a peace officer.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man who was arrested in Oceanside last month before being hospitalized and dying nine days later while under medical care succumbed to natural causes, authorities reported Wednesday.

Zeke Davis, 43, died at about 3:30 p.m. last Saturday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Davis had been arrested June 28 on suspicion of violating a temporary restraining order, resisting arrest and battering a peace officer.

While he was being booked at the Vista Detention Facility, jail staffers medically screened Davis and determined that he should be taken to a hospital for evaluation of a "pre-existing medical condition," sheriff's Lt. Joseph Jarjura said. At Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, Davis was admitted for treatment of his illness, and he remained hospitalized until his death.
