Man Accused Of Stealing Over $4K From Kohl's Stores In San Diego County

Detectives found large quantities of stolen clothing when they searched his home and vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man accused of stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise from multiple Kohl's stores was arrested following a month-long investigation, authorities said.

Detectives from the San Diego County Sheriff's Office's arrested Rafael Rendon on Thursday near his home in the 2100 block of S. 41st Street in San Diego.

Two shoplifting incidents connected to Rendon took place on Jan. 26 and Jan. 30 at a Kohl's in Rancho San Diego, and a third on Jan. 23 at a Kohl's in Chula Vista. The two thefts in Rancho San Diego totaled $2,700, and the theft in Chula Vista totaled $1,370, sheriff's officials said.

Detectives found large quantities of stolen clothing when they searched Rendon's home and vehicle Thursday, according to the sheriff's office. Authorities also learned that Rendon was out on bail for a previous grand theft arrest at the time of the thefts.

Rendon was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of grand theft, grand theft with two or more prior convictions and committing a crime while out on bail.
