Man Arrested In Deadly Assault At San Diego Trolley Station

The victim never regained consciousness and died a week later, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was arrested in connection with the death of another man who was assaulted three weeks ago at a San Diego trolley station, authorities said.

The fatal assault happened at about 2:24 p.m. March 18, when Javier Teran-Pascasio, 38, was punched once in the face and collapsed to the ground at the 12th and Imperial Transit Center, according to the San Diego Police Department.

San Diego Fire-Rescue Department personnel responded to the location, where they treated Teran-Pascasio before taking him to a hospital.

Police said his injuries were the result of the assault and that detectives were initially investigating a battery offense.

The suspect, identified as Kenny Dunn, 27, was believed to have fled the scene on an e-bike, police said. He was spotted the following day by San Diego Metropolitan Transit System personnel, who called the department.

No witnesses were able to positively identify Dunn as the suspect at the time of the initial arrest, police said, and he was released from custody.

Teran-Pascasio never regained consciousness and died on March 25.

The department's Homicide Unit took over the investigation and detectives determined Dunn was the person who assaulted Teran-Pascasio. Detectives found Dunn on Tuesday in the 1300 block of East 30th Street in National City, where he was arrested in connection with the fatal assault.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call the department's Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
