Man Arrested In Deadly San Diego Sex Shop Shooting
A 39-year-old man was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of killing a 65-year-old woman inside a Midway-area sex shop, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 39-year-old man was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of killing a 65-year-old woman inside a Midway-area sex shop, police said.
Shaun Ward was arrested Monday in connection with the slaying of 65- year-old Diane Spagnuolo of El Cajon, who was found at X Spot Adult Store, 3606 Midway Drive, about 12:45 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police.
Spagnuolo had suffered upper-body trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, Lt. Anthony Dupree said.

The exact nature and origin of those injuries was not immediately clear.
"The preliminary investigation has shown that the victim was assaulted while inside the business," Dupree said.

Police have not disclosed a suspected motive for the slaying or what led them to identify Ward as a suspect.
Ward was booked into San Diego Central Jail around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday on suspicion of first degree murder, according to jail records. He was being held without bail pending his arraignment, scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
