Man Arrested In Fatal Hatchet Attack In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was arrested in connection with the fatal hatchet attack of another man in San Diego, authorities said.

Officers responded around 4:50 p.m. Monday to reports of a man being attacked near Santa Fe and Damon streets in the Bay Ho neighborhood, according to the San Diego Police Department. They found the victim, a man believed to be about 50, with multiple head injuries. He died at the scene.

Police said the suspect, identified as Larry Raymond Rodriguez, 39, was believed to be inside a nearby travel trailer. Officers surrounded the trailer and took Rodriguez into custody after he exited.

Police said Rodriguez will be booked into San Diego County Jail on suspicion of murder.

The relationship between the men and the motive for the attack were not immediately known.

A girl believed to be the suspect's daughter was found inside the trailer and taken into protective custody.
