Man In Critical Condition After Collision In San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, CA — A pedestrian is hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday after being struck by a driver in San Marcos.

Deputies from the San Marcos Station of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department were called at approximately 11:01 a.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of Woodward Street after receiving a report of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian, said Sgt. Charles Morreale of the Sheriff's Department.

During their investigation deputies learned a 23-year-old woman was driving northbound on Woodward Street when a 19-year-old male pedestrian entered the roadway in front of her vehicle and was struck, Morreale said. The man sustained severe injuries and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver was not injured in the collision.

Based on a preliminary investigation, which has not been completed, it does not appear that alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision, according to police.
