Man Fatally Struck By Train In San Diego

​The deadly collision happened near the intersection of Noell and Kurtz streets, officials said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was struck and killed by a train Wednesday in San Diego.

The deadly collision happened at 7:55 p.m. near the intersection of Noell and Kurtz streets, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

"When San Diego police officers arrived, they found an adult male who was hit by a northbound Coater train," sheriff's Sgt. Jason King said. "The male was evaluated by the San Diego Fire Department but was fatally injured by the train."

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the man and determine the cause and manner of his death, King said.

The sheriff's transit enforcement unit was handling the investigation. Anyone with information about the collision was asked to contact the sheriff's department's non-emergency line at 858-565-5200.
