Man Gravely Injured During Fight At National City Bar
Paramedics took the man to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening blunt-force trauma, Lt. Antonio Ybarra said.

NATIONAL CITY, CA — An alleged gang member was behind bars Monday on suspicion of gravely injuring another man over the weekend during a fight at a National City bar, authorities reported Monday.
Patrol officers responding to a report of a disturbance found the victim unconscious in a parking lot at the business in the 800 block of East 23rd Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to police.
Paramedics took the man to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening blunt-force trauma, Lt. Antonio Ybarra said.

The suspected assailant, Jerry Ortiz, 50, was arrested at his home later in the day and booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of a ghost gun and participating in a criminal street gang. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
