Man Kidnapped Ex-Girlfriend, Fled Police For Miles: San Diego PD

The man kidnapped his ex-girlfriend from her home in San Diego, police said.

SAN DIEGO — A man was arrested after kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from her home on Friday in San Diego, according to police.

Authorities received a 911 call at 5:11 p.m. from a person in the Mira Mesa neighborhood who saw a woman run from a car and then be physically picked up and put back in the vehicle by a man before the car drove away, police said. The witness provided a license plate number as well as suspect and vehicle descriptions, according to police.

The police department’s automated license plate recognition system showed that the vehicle had been recorded near 9300 Kearny Villa Road, authorities said. An officer spotted the vehicle at 5:35 p.m. traveling south on Interstate 15 past Aero Drive and tried to stop it, but the driver refused to yield for about two miles before finally pulling over near Adams Avenue, according to police.

The victim ran to the safety of the officer’s patrol car and the man was taken into custody and booked into the San Diego County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, evading a peace officer and driving under the influence, police said.
