SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was killed in the Otay Mesa neighborhood of San Diego after the back of a semi tractor trailer that he rear ended penetrated his windshield, authorities said Friday.
San Diego Police Department officers were called at 6:32 p.m. Thursday to Otay Mesa Road and Cactus Road where they learned a 37-year-old man who was driving the semi trailer east on 6900 Otay Mesa was stopped at a red light at the intersection with Cactus and the victim, who was driving a 2016 Chevy Malibu, pulled up behind the semi.
When the light turned green, the semi drove into the intersection and the Chevy struck the rear of the trailer, and the victim was injured after it penetrated the car's windshield, said Officer Robert Heims.
