SAN DIEGO, CA — A 58-year-old man apparently fatally shot himself in a vehicle after stabbing a man to death and injuring the man's wife and a security guard who was attempting to break up an argument, authorities said Sunday.

Police received two calls -- the first at 11:18 p.m. Saturday reporting a man and woman arguing and another 10 minutes later reporting a stabbing at the Grande South complex at 1199 Pacific Highway, in the Core Columbia neighborhood of San Diego, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Shortly afterward, officers and paramedics were dispatched to the complex, where they found a 64-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to his chest and head -- he would later die at the scene -- and a 27-year-old security guard who suffered a stab wound to his arm, and the fatal victim's 62- year-old wife suffering from head contusions, police said. The injured victims were transported to a hospital and later released.
