Man Shot Dead Near Alvarado Hospital
Possible shooting suspects ran from the area east of San Diego State University, San Diego police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA – A shooting near Alvarado Hospital left a man dead Thursday.
The gunfire in the 6300 block of Alvarado Road was reported about 6:15 a.m., according to San Diego police.
Patrol officers arrived to find the victim, 39-year-old Ishi Hampton, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, Sgt. Chris Tivanian said. Medics took Hampton to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooter was believed to be among at least two unidentified men or teenage boys in hooded sweatshirts who apparently had contacted the victim in the neighborhood east of San Diego State University and ran off to the east after he was shot.
"At this time, the motive for the (shooting) is still under investigation," Tivanian said at midday.
