Man Stabbed During Fight In East Village Area Of San Diego

A 26-year-old man was stabbed and sustained non-life-threatening injuries during a fight with a suspect in the East Village area.

SAN DIEGO — A 26-year-old man was stabbed and sustained non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday during a fight with a suspect in the East Village area of San Diego.

The stabbing occurred about 6:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Commercial Street, according to San Diego Police Department Officer Robert Heims.

"During the fight, the victim sustained a large laceration on his right side by his ribs," Heims said.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Heims said.

The suspect fled the scene and was not located.

He was described as a black man in his mid-30s who is 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a muscular build, medium complexion, clean-shaven face and a scar on his abdomen. He was wearing a light-colored short-sleeved shirt and unknown color pants.
