Man Stabbed In San Diego

An 18-year-old man was stabbed twice in the upper body during a robbery attempt in San Diego, authorities said.

SAN DIEGO — An 18-year-old man was stabbed twice in the upper body Saturday during a robbery attempt in a Cherokee Point alley, authorities said.

It happened at 3:13 p.m. in the alley in the 3800 block of 40th Street, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

The suspect approached the victim and demanded his property, Heims said. "A fight ensued and the victim was stabbed two times in the upper left torso."

The male suspect fled the scene on foot and was not in custody, he said.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Heims said.
