Marine Found Dead At MCAS Miramar Identified

Lance Cpl. David M. Gonzalez​​, 20, was found dead Monday from a gunshot wound to the head, officials said.

SAN DIEGO, CA – A Marine found dead at the armory of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar has been identified as Lance Cpl. David M. Gonzalez, military officials announced Thursday.

Gonzalez was found dead around 1:20 p.m. Monday from a gunshot wound to the head. No foul play is suspected, according to officials, who did not disclose whether it was an apparent accident or possibly a suicide.

Gonzalez, 20, of Yucaipa, was assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 38. He joined the Marine Corps in December 2016, and served as a small arms repair technician.

The Marine Corps is investigating the incident. No further details were available.
