“We cannot wait to share not only our food with you, but also shine a light on other local, small businesses, too,” said Rodrigo Rodriguez, co-founder of Mercado Zona Libre and San Diego’s Algo Bueno. “We want this mercado to be a place of community. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy the company of local artisans and businesses, all while savoring unique bites you won’t find anywhere else.”
Rodrigo, along with co-host Sylvia Loya, wants the market to benefit vendors as well, offering them affordable alternatives for connecting with customers.
Mercado Zona Libre takes place from 3 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. For updates, see their Facebook event page. Vendors may apply for inclusion in the market by contacting mercadomrkt@gmail.com.
