SAN DIEGO, CA — A 46-year-old man riding a motorcycle suffered serious injuries after hitting the back of a semi-truck in the Otay Mesa neighborhood, the San Diego Police Department said Friday.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, the man was riding west on a 1986 Suzuki motorcycle at 7700 Saint Andrews Ave. when his bike hit the truck, which was illegally parked along the north curb, according to an SDPD news release.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with a traumatic brain injury, and a fractured jaw, pelvis and right arm, police said.

Police added that the injuries are not considered life-threatening and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. SDPD's Traffic Division is investigating.
