Motorcyclist Killed, Passenger Injured In I-8 Crash In San Diego
A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was seriously injured in a crash on eastbound I-8, near Rosecrans Street, according to the CHP.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was seriously injured in a crash over the weekend on Interstate 8 in San Diego, authorities said.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when a man was driving a black Yamaha Y2F690 motorcycle with a passenger on eastbound I-8, west of the Rosecrans Street offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. The motorcyclist was splitting lanes at an unknown speed when the motorcycle hit the back of a Ford F-150, which was stopped due to heavy traffic.
The unidentified driver of the motorcycle was ejected, hit the rear of the truck, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP. The passenger of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old woman from San Diego, was also ejected and struck in the roadway. She was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center for major injuries.

The driver of the Ford stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, the CHP said.. Alcohol and/or drugs were not believed to be a factor for the driver of the Ford.
A toxicology report was pending through the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office to determine if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor for the driver of the motorcycle.
