A motorcyclist was killed in a crash near the San Diego Bay in National City that damaged power lines and knocked out power in the area.

NATIONAL CITY, CA — A motorcyclist was killed in a solo motorcycle crash near the San Diego Bay in National City that damaged power lines and left nearly 2,200 customers in the area without power, authorities said Thursday.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday on Harbor Drive near West Eighth Street, according to National City police.

The motorcycle knocked down some power lines and the two-wheeler ended up near train tracks with a power line draped across it, NBC7 reported. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, but no details about the victim were immediately available.

The crash initially knocked out power to about 2,180 customers in the area, according to the San Diego Gas & Electric outage map.

Power was restored to all customers by 4:30 a.m., according to SDG&E.
