NASCAR San Diego Weekend Returning To Coronado In 2027

CORONADO, CA — NASCAR San Diego Weekend will return to Naval Base Coronado in 2027 after its inaugural event sold out this year, organizers announced Tuesday.

The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series will race on the streets of Coronado from July 30 to Aug. 1, 2027, at the 16-turn, 3.4-mile Qualcomm Circuit at Naval Air Station North Island.

The weekend's main event, the Cup Series street race, is scheduled for Aug. 1. It will be preceded by the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race on July 31.

NASCAR and the Department of War also announced plans to take the military-base street race to another U.S. military installation in 2028, expanding the event beyond Naval Base Coronado.

"What we experienced this year — the incredible racing, the energy from our fans and the partnership with the U.S. Navy and the San Diego community — showed just how special this event can be," NASCAR San Diego President Amy Lupo said in a statement. "We are grateful for the opportunity to build on that momentum, and we are fully committed to improving the experience for our fans."

Tickets for the 2027 races will go on sale at a later date. Fans can register for presale opportunities at NASCAR San Diego's website.

The Cup Series race will air live on TNT, truTV and HBO Max. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race will air on The CW and the ESPN App.

NASCAR San Diego will also host Navy Community Night on July 30, with free access for sailors and Coronado residents. The event will include O'Reilly Auto Parts Series practice and qualifying, along with interactive experiences focused on the Navy and NASCAR.

The 2027 event will mark the second year NASCAR has held street races at Naval Base Coronado.

"We are proud to welcome NASCAR back to Naval Base Coronado for another incredible weekend in 2027," Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao said in a statement. "We look forward to celebrating this partnership with the San Diego community and giving our service members and their families an unforgettable experience."

Coronado Mayor John Duncan said the event provides an opportunity to attract visitors and support local businesses while recognizing Navy personnel.

"We're proud to once again welcome race fans from across the country and honoring the active duty Navy personnel," Duncan said in a statement.
