Nixon Fire Near San Diego County Line Prompts Evacuation Warnings
The fire in Riverside County has the potential to extend into San Diego County if conditions change, officials said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A wildfire burning near the Riverside-San Diego county line prompted evacuation warnings Tuesday evening in San Diego County.
The blaze, called the Nixon Fire, has spread to 4,941 acres with zero containment as of Tuesday evening, according to Cal Fire. The fire, which started at 12:30 p.m. Monday, has destroyed one residential structure and damaged four unknown structures.
Although the fire is currently burning within the Beauty Mountain Wilderness area of Riverside County, it has the potential to extend into San Diego County if conditions change. Therefore, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department issued evacuation warnings for areas near the county line. See the map here.

An evacuation center was opened at Temecula Valley High School at 31555 Rancho Vista Road in Temecula.
